Real Testing Requires Realistic Signals

In real substations and industrial environments, signals are not always perfectly clean.
Noise, interference, and other disturbances can affect the quality of the measured waveform.
So if we want a test to reflect real operating conditions, applying only ideal signals is not enough.

The real challenge is this:

How can we reproduce noisy signal conditions in a controlled and repeatable way?
This is where our solution comes in.

With AMPro, engineers can use the SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) capability to intentionally add controlled noise to the test signal and simulate more realistic signal conditions.
Instead of testing a device only with a perfect waveform, we can evaluate its performance under conditions that are much closer to the real world.
For example, in PMU testing, this makes it possible to check whether the device can still accurately measure:

Phasor magnitude
Phase angle
Frequency
ROCOF

even when the input signal is affected by noise.
By adjusting the SNR level in AMPro, engineers can gradually change signal quality, reproduce challenging conditions, and better assess the robustness of measurement algorithms.
This approach helps move testing beyond ideal laboratory scenarios and closer to actual field conditions.
Because realistic testing is not only about generating a signal.
It is about generating the right signal conditions.
