🔧 Smarter Protection Testing with Multi‑Layer Assessments in Vebko 🔍
Modern relay testing isn’t just about “pass/fail” anymore — it’s about how and why a relay behaves. That’s exactly why we designed a full stack of Assessment types in our software to turn raw test data into engineering insight ⚡
Here’s how you can analyze your tests with engineering‑grade precision:
1️⃣ Time Assessment – Focus on when things happen
Measure key timings like pickup and trip directly from your test states. Perfect for validating relay operating times against protection settings ⏱️
2️⃣ Level Assessment – Understand your binary logic
Evaluate binary changes in every state and verify correct operation of outputs, contacts, and logical signals at each step of the test.
3️⃣ Ramp Assessment – Find the exact pickup point
In ramp states, detect the precise signal level where the relay changes state. Ideal for pickup tests where you need the exact current, voltage, or frequency at which the relay operates 🎯
4️⃣ Value Assessment – Deep signal analytics
At a defined instant in time, you can assess:
Instantaneous value
RMS
Angle
Real / Imaginary
Frequency
Rate of change of frequency (df/dt)
for both voltage and current signals. This is your toolbox for detailed performance evaluation 📊
5️⃣ Calculated Assessment – Engineering math on top of your results
Use outputs from Ramp Assessment and Value Assessment to build new calculations.
Example: define two ramp assessments for pickup and drop, then compute
reset ratio = drop / pickup
by assigning Y = pickup, X = dropoff and evaluating X / Y. This is pure protection engineering inside your assessment engine 📐
6️⃣ Transient Assessment – Analyze dynamic behavior
Designed to evaluate transient states, so you can verify relay performance during fast, non‑steady conditions and switching events.
7️⃣ Tracking Assessment – Follow relay behavior over time
Define assessments on tracking states, for scenarios like power swing tests on distance relays. Track how the relay responds as the system gradually changes over time.
With these seven assessment types, you don’t just test a relay – you characterize it.
